Keema Masala

Keema (keema = mince) Masala is spiced ground beef recipe that’s perfect for midweek dinner. I used beef mince but you could use lamb, mutton or chicken. I serve this dish with roti (unleavened whole wheat bread) which is a staple in any Indian household. This is one of those dishes that you may not find at a restaurant but it’s is pretty common in Indian home cooking.

Ingredients

  1. 1 tbsp Ghee

  2. 1 lb Ground beef (80/20)

  3. 1 Bay leaf (dried)

  4. 1 tbsp Cumin seeds

  5. 1 Dried red chili

  6. 1 cup Diced red onion

  7. 2 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste

  8. 1/2 cup Greek yogurt

  9. 2-3 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder

  10. 1 tsp Turmeric powder

  11. 2 tsp Coriander powder

  12. 2 tsp Cumin powder

  13. 2 tsp Garam Masala powder

  14. 1/4 cup Peas

  15. Chopped cilantro (coriander)

  16. Salt, as needed

  17. 1/2 cup Water
