Pop-Up Dinner: 'Pandal Hopping'
Saturday, November 30, 2019
6:30 PM – 8:30 PM PST
945 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94115
This dinner is a journey through possibly some of the most cherished memories from my childhood in Kolkata.
Durga puja is a central part of every Bengali's life. It's as if every calendar year is planned around those five days and for the kids in the family, it was an opportunity to do whatever we wanted without the repercussions that it usually came with.
For us, it meant visiting each 'pandal' and more importantly, trying the variety of festive snacks from the choicest vendors.
I'm showcasing some of those dishes at this pop-up. Hope to see you there!
I was born in Calcutta, India and moved to San Francisco in 2015 to work in Silicon Valley. In Calcutta, everything revolves around food: outstanding restaurants, as many as four meals a day, and a special Sunday lunch followed by an obligatory nap. Food was an integral part of my childhood and I learned to cook from my grandmother at a young age.
The lack of representation of the flavors I grew up eating in San Francisco gave me the courage to start following my own food dream. Come try some of India’s lesser known (and better tasting) dishes at my next pop-up!
All of this isn’t possible without my incredible team!
